Whoa, okay, so I stumbled upon this thing about nDreams, right? They’re totally gearing up to drop this virtual reality game, and let me tell you, it’s sounding like it’s gonna blow minds. It’s called Reach. No, seriously, they even have this new offshoot, nDreams Elevation—fancy, huh?
So, last week, they teased us with some gameplay. Picture parkour in VR. Yeah, I had to wrap my head around that one too. Like, I’m barely coordinated in real life, but whatever. It’s all about action, adventure, and—I guess—being there. You know, in VR. It’s all very meta.
This dude Matt Duff, who’s some big cheese there, goes on and on about redefining movement in VR. You know, like pulling yourself through spaces, which sounds kind of physical and cool. But jumping? That’s usually a VR no-no, but they’re doing something wild with gestures that, somehow, tricks your brain? Don’t even ask me how that works.
And get this, they’re obsessed with player agency. Sounds all corporate, but really it’s just, “If it looks climbable, climb it.” Simple, right? No more floating hands either—thank you, Full-body Awareness. Because who hasn’t been creeped out by disembodied hands?
Then Duff’s like, “Combat!” And I’m thinking, “Okay, here we go.” Apparently, it’s all high-octane or sneaky, whichever tickles your fancy. Bows and fancy arrows that go boom or freeze. Why? No idea, but I’m into it.
You’re supposed to be able to distract folks with arrows ’cause sneaking around is an option. I can’t even sneak a cookie past my dog, but hey, maybe I’ll get good at stealth here. There’s some video, too, but you gotta check that yourself.
Oh, and before I forget—because I almost did—it’s dropping on all VR platforms. You can wishlist it somewhere on that Horizon thing, or Steam, or whatever you PSVR 2 folks use. It’s coming at you this year, so… get hyped or something.
