Ah, the Nintendo Switch 2. It’s everywhere, isn’t it? So, this YouTuber, JerryRigEverything—or I should say Zack Nelson—decided to mess around with it. You know, pop the hood and see what’s what. And honestly? He didn’t seem too mad about what he found in there. Most of it’s all kinda plug-and-play. Like, the Joy-Con sticks and even the headphone jack can be switched out like, “Hey, need a fresh one? No biggie.”
Now, I’ve heard talk that fixing this thing could hit your wallet harder ’cause parts aren’t exactly cheap, but Zack made it look like a breeze. Just grab a Phillips, maybe a weird tri-point thingy—yeah, that’s a word now—and you’re in. He pulled it apart, put it back, and, voila, it’s still chugging along. Easy peasy.
But, ugh, the batteries… that’s a whole other story. Glued down like someone went a little too wild — I’m talking silly amounts of alcohol just to pry it off. And some parts, like the game card slot and USB ports? Concrete. You mess those up, you’re dancing with the motherboard, and trust me, soldering isn’t as fun as it sounds.
So there’s this bit, kinda whacky really—Zack peeled off this screen protector thing. Apparently, it’s there so you don’t have a glass explosion in your face if you Hulk-smash the screen. Smart, right? Anyway, once he’d poked about inside, he put most of it back together. Except the protector and—oh, what was it? A haptic motor? Who needs those anyway?
Here’s the kicker: Zack went ham with some huge pliers (like those plumber’s monsters) on the screen. Yeah, pure bonkers. It took him, like, 50 whacks to bust it. Even then, after the dust settled, the thing just needed a reboot to keep working. Sure, the screen was a dangerous piece of art at that point, but hey, still ticking.
Basically, this Switch 2 is built to take a hit. Maybe not recommend going WWE on it, but a minor freak-out? It might survive. Just, uh, try not to break it on purpose unless you feel like testing Nintendo’s patience with warranties.
Oh, and yeah, Tom’s Hardware—people say to keep an eye there if you ever need your fix of tech intel. Just, you know, hit that follow button so you don’t miss out. Or don’t. Live your life.
