So, guess what? Nintendo’s tossing out a freebie update for Splatoon 3 on, well, you guessed it, good ol’ Nintendo Switch and, oh wait, Switch 2 is also in the mix, dropping sometime this week. Okay, it’s happening on Thursday, June 12—mark your calendars if that’s your thing.
Here’s what’s cooking: The update, version 10.0.0 (sounds fancy, right?), is rolling out the Splatlands collection. Basically, a bunch of shiny new weapons from some brands named Barazushi and Emberz. Yeah, I haven’t heard of them either, but hey, new toys! We’re talking 30 weapon kits here—fresh looks loaded with sub and special weapons that might make you drool. Or maybe not, who knows.
And, wait for it—the Urchin Underpass is making a comeback. Remember that old stage from the original Splatoon on Wii U? Yep, it’s ready for a revival tour in the stage rotation. Nostalgia, anyone?
Now for the stats geeks: They’re hiking up all the weapon Freshness caps, whatever that means. You can bag some new in-game badges—a shiny reminder of how awesome you are in imaginary ink battles. And there’s this snazzy new stat called Series Weapon Power for Anarchy Battle (Series). It lets you show off—or realize you’re not quite the inkling god you thought you were—by tracking how you’re smashing it or crashing it in battles. Then, BAM, it matches you with players who are theoretically at your level. So, you can try shooting with new weapons without getting utterly wrecked. Or at least that’s the promise.
Switch 2 owners are in for a visual feast. They’ll get to soak in better graphics with a slicker, smoother look in places like Splatsville. I don’t know, maybe the colors are shinier or something. Also, breathe easy; the trailer assures us that folks on Switch and Switch 2 can splat together. Nice touch, Nintendo.
If this got you hyped—and seriously, why wouldn’t it?—Splatoon 3’s already waiting on store shelves or online at the Nintendo eShop if that’s your jam. Game on!
