Off the back of that Silent Hill 2 Remake’s wild success—totally not what I expected, mind you—Konami’s at it again. They’re teaming up with Bloober Team to rework the OG Silent Hill from ’99. No clue when it’s dropping, though. It’s just “in development.” Anyway, Bloober and Konami, back at it again without much else to share.
This wasn’t shock-city or anything since Bloober already hinted at more collabs not long after SH2’s big splash. Everybody, including yours truly, guessed that Silent Hill and maybe even SH3 were gonna get the remake treatment. Considering how Bloober nailed SH2, it’d be a crying shame not to give them more cult classics to revamp, right?
Thankfully, Konami’s thinking along the same foggy lines, letting Silent Hill fans gear up for another dive into that eerie town. So, forget James Sunderland and his wife drama for a sec. Silent Hill’s about Harry Mason—a single dad, mind you—heading to the town with his adopted daughter, Cheryl, for a lil’ getaway after his wife’s passing. Yeah, kind of like SH2, but hang on a sec.
They crash on the way—classic—and boom, Cheryl’s missing, just like that. Harry’s off, searching for his kid, stumbling into all sorts of freaky creatures and odd folks. Sounds a bit like Silent Hill 2’s vibe, sure, but believe me, there’s way more to it. I won’t spoil the juicy bits for anyone whose first dive will be this remake.
Bloober’s got a heavy lift here, tackling another SH game. It’s no small task, but after SH2’s killer reception, I’ve got some serious hopes for anything with Bloober on the label. What’s your take?
