Xbox April Update: Purchase Games on the Mobile App, Stream Directly from Console, and Additional Features

This month has arrived with a fresh batch of thrilling updates for our gaming platforms. Highlights include smoother purchases on the Xbox app for mobile users, a neat feature to stream your own gameplay on Xbox consoles, and clever tips to clear storage space. If you’ve been waiting to buy games straight from the Xbox app, your wishes are about to be fulfilled. Soon, you’ll be able to effortlessly purchase games, sign up for Game Pass, and redeem exciting Perks—all from the convenience of your mobile. Imagine pre-ordering Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 and having it set to auto-install on your Xbox from the app—it’s that easy! Upcoming releases like Assassin’s Creed Shadows and MLB The Show 25 are also just a tap away.

This fantastic new experience is rolling out first to beta testers on both iOS and Android. It won’t be long before everyone else joins the party via the Google Play Store and Apple Store. When you have a payment method already saved, game shopping becomes a breeze with just two simple clicks.

Jumping to the consoles, Game Pass Ultimate members are in for a treat. You can now stream the games you own directly on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One. This expands the reach from just Smart TVs and Meta Quest headsets to practically any device with a browser. Streaming means no waiting for downloads—just get right into the game!

To start, simply head to My Games & Apps, browse your Owned Games, and look for titles marked with a cloud badge. Hit Play with Cloud Gaming, and you’re off! You can also find cloud-playable games directly through the Store app.

We’ve pushed forward the Stream Your Own Game collection with Xbox Cloud Gaming (Beta). This means Game Pass Ultimate members have access to streaming over 100 titles on supported devices. New additions like Disney Epic Mickey: Rebrushed and LEGO Marvel Superheroes are ready for action, with more exciting games coming soon.

Meanwhile, Xbox Remote Play is becoming more versatile. Play any game installed on your console using xbox.com/remoteplay from any device with a browser. We’re adding support for more smart TVs and devices, making it easier to access Xbox remote play. Plus, backwards compatible games from older Xbox generations can now stream via remote play across all supported devices.

For those with cluttered storage, we’ve got a solution. A new update helps you free up space by identifying unused add-ons, duplicate games, and titles you no longer can access. Navigate to My Games & Apps, and find this handy tool under ‘Manage.’

The new game hubs on Xbox are brimming with useful info like player stats, achievements, and events related to your selected games. Designed for quick action, they let you jump right into the game with just a double-tap. Prefer a direct launch? You can adjust this in your personalization settings.
