Okay, so here’s a wild thought. If someone had popped out of nowhere and told me that my latest binge-worthy obsession, the Netflix show called KPop Demon Hunters, would somehow—like, in some totally random way—mash up with my all-time favorite thing ever, the war in the stars known as Star Wars, I’d have probably laughed it off. I mean, seriously, what do Cal Kestis, Bode Akuna, and Merrin from the Jedi games have to link them with our gals Rumi, Zoey, and Mira from HUNTR/X? I couldn’t even begin to imagine.
But surprise, surprise: it’s about looking slick while, you know, making their enemies regret everything.
AnimatedJen really outdid themselves with this video. And if you’re anything like me (you know, someone who absolutely needs a dose of pure adrenaline and badassery to kick off the day), just do yourself a favor and watch it.
There’s this track from HUNTR/X, “How It’s Done,” pumping in the background, and our Jedi friend Cal Kestis teams up with Bode Akuna and the always-fascinating Nightsister Merrin. Together, they’re handing out beatdowns to any Empire lackeys trying to ruin their vibe. Not like they’re taking down bad guys while falling out of a plane, but their moves? Absolutely epic, I’m telling you.
“Want another round?”—Bode’s like “Cal, seriously, they want more.” Cue Cal giving a poor shoretrooper the boot and then boom, Bode’s flying in on his jetpack, dealing some serious fist-to-face action. Merrin ends it with a flourish, and wow, I’m all fired up and there’s still a minute left to go!
Oh man, AnimatedJen’s channel has been a personal favorite for ages. The dedication and love poured into Cal Kestis’s alternate universe adventures? Just wow. Who doesn’t want to see Cal as an Inquisitor? I’d be first in line! Those Jedi games? People can’t get enough. Bet they’ll hit the live-action scene someday, fingers crossed.
Honestly, what makes Star Wars super awesome for me: it’s the fans and their wild creativity. Sure, maybe “canon” (whatever that even means in Star Wars world) Cal, Merrin, and yep, Bode (he knows what he did, and that’s all I’m spilling) wouldn’t exactly fight stormtroopers powered by K-Pop magic. But really, who can say? No one. That’s who!
I’m dubbing the team MANT/S from here on out. Is Cere Junda their manager now? Someone jot this down and throw it on AO3 for me, would ya? Oh, and modders, if you’re reading, those outfits need to happen. Like, yesterday.
So yeah, you’ll find me diving back into Jedi: Fallen Order, blasting “Takedown,” and slicing through some Imperial riffraff. Just living my best Jedi life, you know?
