I stumbled onto this weird bit of news on Reddit—of all places—about a new Lenovo gadget, right? It’s kinda nuts how things leak from these factories. Anyway, some person (who might just be our inside guy or a total guesser, who knows?) says Lenovo ditched their place for making these handheld doohickeys, and now, boom, developer units are popping up on Chinese second-hand websites. Wild, right?
So, some video shows up on YouTube—no, wait, it was originally on BiliBili, and there’s this Legion Go 2 thing, all shiny and untouchable (well, for most of us anyway). The thing looks like its older sibling, same detachable controllers, screen’s a whopping 8.8 inches. I almost dropped my coffee when I saw Samsung did the OLED panel for this thing. HDR, some kinda eye-melting 144 Hz refresh rate. Makes you wonder if it’d feel like staring into a different dimension or something.
And I gotta talk about the specs because they sound like gobbledygook sometimes. But here’s an attempt: This thing’s supposedly got an AMD Ryzen Z2 chip, Zen 4, with whole 8-core/16-thread situation, and a 12-core Radeon 780M GPU. CES earlier this year was a riot apparently, with all this tech stuff flying around. Lenovo hinted the Legion Go 2’s gonna swing its way onto shelves with a Ryzen Z2 Extreme. Might as well put rocket boosters on it at this point!
Now, picture this: 1TB PCIe Gen 4 SSD, 32GB LPDDR5X memory clocking in at 7500 MHz. Yeah, didn’t know what half that meant either. And a battery—74 Wh—so maybe it lasts longer than a good movie? It’s supposed to have Wi-Fi 6E and all that Windows 11 jazz preloaded too. Gaming’s gonna be nuts if this thing works like they say. There’s one claim—it’s coming out in September, tag’s around a thousand bucks. Kind of a steep price, isn’t it?
Then there’s this whole spec sheet dance-off between Legion Go 2 and some Asus ROG Xbox Ally models. Have to admit, it’s like comparing apple pie to peach cobbler—similar, yet not. Seventy-something-whatever touchscreen, VRR, HDR overlay put versus different processors and gigabyte wars. Almost feels like a high-tech soap opera.
Anyway, Lenovo better strap in tight because Asus is chumming it up with Microsoft for their new gear. Those guys have some serious Xbox juju going on with software that’s maybe smoother than my morning smoothie. Lenovo better bring their A-game or who knows, they might just end up playing catch-up.
Don’t forget to check Tom’s Hardware for the latest updates on this tech circus. Apparently, it’s where you go so you won’t miss out on stuff like this. Quite the ride, right?
