A job listing just spilled the beans on what Maze Theory’s cooking up after Thief VR. Apparently, it’s tied to some big movie. Kinda wild, right?
Maze Theory, this UK studio, dropped Thief VR: Legacy of Shadow and now they’re moving on to something mysteriously dubbed Project Xeno. They’re on the hunt for a Lead Gameplay Designer or Creative Lead. They’re talking “groundbreaking” stuff here, with a story that’s straight-up next-gen VR and mixed reality. Sounds kinda epic, no?
Here’s the kicker—they’re hinting it’s a flagship IP linked to some major flick, blending cinematic tales, gameplay that’s all new, and a sci-fi saga jam-packed with feels. The whole setup screams “big deal,” but they’re annoyingly tight-lipped beyond that. Typical, huh? Oh, and the job’s only for a year, but maybe longer if you’re lucky.
Mulling over the codename and sci-fi angle, my brain immediately screams Alien. You know, Ridley Scott’s world? Xenomorphs, anyone? Then again, that clashes with Alien: Rogue Incursion. Pretty tangled situation, but feels kinda cool to speculate, right?
Maze Theory isn’t new to playing around with big names. They’ve fiddled with VR for Peaky Blinders and even Doctor Who. Besides Thief VR, they’ve lately been into originals like Freerunner Championships and this mind-bendy mixed reality game, Infinite Inside. Also, they’ve got Ancient Dungeon VR going on PlayStation VR2.
Where can you play it? When’s it coming? No clue yet. But, hey, I’m on this like a hawk, so I’ll shout when I hear anything about Project Xeno. Stay tuned, I guess?
