You know what? Meta just decided to throw Zoom into the Horizon Store mix. Now you can actually host or join meetings as your Quest avatar. Pretty wild, right?
I mean, we’ve sorta been here before. Back in 2021, Zoom got cozy with Horizon Workrooms. That was all about those face-to-face virtual meetings where you could also throw webcam folks into the mix. But, let’s be real, it was like more extra than your average.
Now? It’s all about Zoom, plain and simple. You can snag this new app for free. Meta’s calling it like this smooth Zoom Workplace crossover — you’ve used it on mobile or desktop, right? Hopefully.
Anyway, here’s this image they tagged along. Can’t help but notice how the avatars are still kinda cartoonish. I had a chuckle. Especially when you compare them to those slick Apple Persona avatars. Vision Pro’s been rocking those since, like, February 2024. Time flies, huh?
Oh, back to the point! Using Zoom on Quest is basically like throwing your 2D avatar image at the screen. VR pals, regular webcam humans, everyone can see your cartoonish self. It’s kinda funny if you think about it.
Would you jump into a meeting using one of those? I’m not convinced. Though, if it’s free, why not give it a go? Just grab the app from the Horizon Store, log in like you would on your other devices, and off you go. Chat away. Hopefully, I haven’t lost you with all this rambling.
