Sure thing, let’s go off on a bit of a tangent here. So, Sony’s been keeping us on our toes about when we’re gonna sneak another peek at this new game — Ghost of Yotei. I mean, the last time they dropped by for a chat about it was, well, a bit over a month back. Right there, in the throes of those summer shindigs, you know?
Back then, we caught a glimpse of a trailer for this action RPG thing. They dangled a little carrot, saying more cool stuff would be out by July. And yeah, July’s already cruised in, waved hello, and here we are still waiting. But not for much longer, apparently!
There’s this big hoopla coming up — a State of Play livestream just for Ghost of Yotei, right? It’s all set for Thursday, July 10. So, they’re promising us a full-blown gameplay deep dive for about 20 minutes. That’s like watching two TV shows back-to-back, if you skip the ads.
Oh! And Jason Connell and Nate Fox from Sucker Punch (not actual punches, mind you, just the game studio) are hosting. They’re gonna chat about Atsu’s new quest — maybe share a bit about her shiny new toys… by which I mean, weapons. And they teased something about “ways to personalize your journey.” Not sure if that means custom outfits, picking your battle cry, or… what.
Plus, the whispers of new modes. Could be a twist on that Legends co-op thing from Tsushima, or something vintage like Kurosawa mode — where it’s all like, black and white, grainy, and moody. Just when you thought you were done with samurai movie aesthetics, right?
There’s a lot to unpack, and it sounds like this showcase will be a wild ride. Catch it live — pretty sure it’s at 2pm PT, 5pm ET, or 10pm BST (might as well set an alarm). It’ll be streaming on PlayStation’s Twitch and YouTube, so, you know, no excuses.
In case you were wondering, mark your calendar — Ghost of Yotei’s slated for an October 2 release on PS5. I’m already counting the days, kind of obsessively at this point.
