Bungie has lifted the curtain on the 2025 edition of Guardian Games for Destiny 2, promising an array of new rewards and a fresh game mode named Rushdown. It’s certainly an exciting period for Destiny 2 enthusiasts, with Act 2 of Episode Heresy looming on the horizon shortly after the introduction of Moments of Triumph for players to dive into.
Destiny 2, as a live-service game, regularly features major seasonal events that pop up for limited times, providing players with the opportunity to engage in unique activities and collect special themed rewards. Guardian Games, specifically, has been a staple spring event in Destiny 2 for several years, challenging the game’s three player classes to compete in earning and banking medals within a set timeframe. With March arriving, Bungie has unveiled the anticipated details for the 2025 version of Guardian Games.
While the core of Guardian Games remains unchanged, where players earn medallions through various activities to be banked at the Tower Podium, this year’s event comes with notable changes. Specifically, Guardian Games Nightfalls and Focused Activities are not making a return. In their place, Destiny 2 offers a fresh experience with the introduction of Rushdown—a five-boss gauntlet that increases in difficulty, rewarding players better based on their performance. This mode can be tackled with three different difficulty levels and matchmaking options: jumping in with random players, sticking with one’s own class, or organizing a private fireteam.
Kicking off the excitement, players can look forward to a host of rewards, including the return of Destiny 2 fan favorites such as the Allstar Vector Skimmer, Taraxippos, The Title, and Hullabaloo. Fresh to the lineup this year is the Keraunios, an arc-powered trace rifle, alongside three brand-new armor sets available in the Eververse store for purchase with Bright Dust or Silver. Players can also strive to earn the Champ title and seal. Individual contributions to the Guardian Games are rewarded with armor glows for achievements like excelling at the Tower, weekly Rushdown performance, being part of the day’s winning class, and standing out in Supremacy and Gambit modes.
In the coming weeks, players can expect a wealth of content. Alongside Moments of Triumph and Guardian Games, Act 2 introduces the new activity, Court of Blades, which combines a boss rush mode with roguelite features. Additionally, Bungie has shared plans for a new activity called Rite of the Nine to arrive with Act 3. Players can also look forward to the opening of The Prophecy, Spire of the Watcher, and Ghost of the Deep dungeons, each equipped with unique modifiers, including a Pantheon-style mode for those seeking an added challenge.
