Sony just dropped some pretty wild news—new games hitting the PlayStation Plus Game Catalog. Not gonna lie, kinda made me wish I had a PS5. So, here’s the scoop: Mortal Kombat 1, Marvel’s Spider-Man, and get this—a game called Unicorn Overlord. Yeah, that’s a real name. Anyway, starting August 19, boom, these games are yours if you’re on those fancier tiers, Extra and Premium.
Oh! Mortal Kombat 1. Even though it’s kinda wrapping things up with new stuff, it’s still got all those wild characters and, you know, eye-popping (literally) fatalities. Not sure what it says about me, but I find those finishing moves way too satisfying.
Then there’s Marvel’s Spider-Man. Total win-win. PS5? You get the Remastered. PS4? Game of the Year edition. Why don’t more games do this dual release thing? Seriously, appreciate the generosity, Sony.
Sword of the Sea is coming in hot as well. I remember playing Journey and thinking, “Wow, emotions in video game form.” Giant Squid’s new game sounds just as atmospheric—like they took me back to that same whimsical mood.
And Earth Defense Force 6. We’re talking massive alien bugs. You’re either gonna love it or—well, if you hate bugs, a hard no. But if blasting alien ants with buddies sounds like your idea of fun, this game is your jam.
Then there’s this quirky Unicorn Overlord. Name’s a headscratcher, but it’s Atlus and Vanillaware. If you dig tactical RPGs, you’re probably already all over this.
Atelier Ryza 3’s a thing too, with our gal Ryza on some perilous quest. Those alchemy-themed adventures have their own kind of charm, gotta admit.
Indika sounds like it’s full of feels. A young nun crossing paths with, um, the devil? Talk about plot twists. Sometimes these narrative-heavy games sneak up and hit you right in the emotions.
There’s Harold Halibut too. Not everyday you get a claymation game about a crash-landed spaceship at the bottom of an alien ocean. Kind of dream-like, right?
And let’s not forget Coral Island. It’s like Stardew Valley meets a tropical escape. Go from busy city life to farm life, and it’s—how do I put it—serenely chaotic?
Hold up, a special nod to Resident Evil 2 and 3: Nemesis. Those classics are back, and now they’ve got some cool tweaks like quick save and rewind. I don’t know about you, but they’ve always been a nostalgia trip for me.
So yeah, whether you’re into punching your friends in Mortal Kombat or farming in Coral Island, August’s looking pretty sweet for PlayStation peeps.
