Alright, here goes nothing. So, picture this: you’re all amped up for the Battlefield 6 open beta, probably daydreaming about those smoke grenades. I get it. But hey, EA’s throwing some quality of life stuff our way, which is… something. They’re tweaking the game based on what bugs players — hoping it’ll make the full launch smoother. It’s like adding butter to dry toast. Maybe?
Now, bad news first. People were making a commotion, banging on pots (metaphorically, I assume) about wanting a server browser. Did they get it? Nope. But, there’s a glimmer of hope. In their bloggie update thing, EA introduces "Custom Search." You get to fiddle with maps and modes — kind of like mixing playlists but not really. It’s not the holy grail server browser, though, just a teaser. Funny they made a point to say, “Not happening this week.” Feels like a nudge and a wink, right? Maybe it’ll show up later. Or maybe not. Who knows?
Oh, before I forget — they’re mixing things up with new challenges, a shiny Empire State map, and all sorts of modes on rotation. Here’s a rundown, but bear with me:
Thursday, 14th:
Conquest, Rush, Attack & Defend (kinda like Breakthrough, Rush), Close Quarters (fast-paced chaos with Domination, King of the Hill), and Closed Weapons All-Out Warfare.
Friday, 15th:
We’re back with Conquest, now with Squad Deathmatch, more Close Quarters (also a frenzy on small maps), All-Out Warfare (big epic maps), and the Closed Weapons All-Out Warfare again.
Saturday-Sunday, 16th-17th:
Conquest, Close Quarters (by now, you get the vibe), All-Out Warfare, and the usual closed weapons stuff. Honestly, EA’s switching gears daily to peek at what makes players tick. Feels like a matchmaking experiment…
So, EA’s trying to zero in on what people dig. Oh, yeah, about that "time to kill" thing, they’ve been chatting it up since August started. They’re testing infantry-only modes, refining things to maybe echo Call of Duty’s fast-paced insanity—but also letting players pick their poison. Let’s not even start on the cheaters. EA’s like, swearing they’ll learn from all this insanity and circle back with updates and changes for Battlefield 6.
The beta kicks off on Thursday, Aug 14, at 1am PDT. So, maybe set an alarm? Or don’t. Up to you.
