Alright, so earlier today, there was this big livestream event for the Honkai: Star Rail game, version 3.4. Yeah, right on time. And, of course, everyone was buzzing about the new characters. It’s kind of the main deal with every update, isn’t it? Anyway, the livestream gave us a peek into the newcomers heading to this free-to-play RPG.
Now, the really juicy bit? A collaboration with Fate/stay night is coming up. If you don’t know, that’s a big-deal fantasy novel-type thing. This crossover was mentioned way back last August when Fate/stay night finally got its English localization. Took long enough, am I right? So, yeah, it was one of those things where they announced it forever ago, and we were all like, “When’s it actually happening?” Fast forward 10 months, and here we are.
Okay, so who’s new in the 3.4 update? We’re getting Saber — she’s a 5-Star Wind/Destruction gal, with her own special banner in the game. Also, Archer — another 5-Star, but Quantum/Hunt this time. And get this: you can claim Archer for free just for logging in during the event. Yeah, free stuff is always cool. This collab is rolling through till version 3.6, so that’s some extra time to snag them.
Oh, and Phainon! Remember him? He’s that NPC who popped up in version 3.0. Well, he’s finally gonna be playable. Been waiting on that one. And just like some others, he’s gonna be a 5-Star with a Physical/Destruction kit. All the new characters are dropping in Phase 1 because, apparently, rules just don’t apply during crossovers.
There are also six rerun banners coming (a bit much, if you ask me). Tribbie, Sunday, Sparkle, Firefly, Jingliu, and Blade are all back for limited times. So, while there’s nothing new in Phase 2, it’s like, how can you complain with so much going on already?
And hey, Stellaron Hunters fans, rejoice! Kafka, Silver Wolf, and Blade are getting some buffs — new battle mechanics, Eidolon updates, and even a new look for Firefly. Well, fingers crossed it all works out. Jingliu’s getting a kit upgrade, too. Maybe she’ll join the edgy merc team now. Could be fun, honestly.
Mark your calendars: July 2nd is when version 3.4 goes live. The second banner phase? July 23rd. You can still catch the livestream recording below if you’re curious.
Oh, in case you missed it, back in May, version 3.3 introduced Hyacine and brought back The Herta. Also, we saw the return of some fan favorites, plus a new face, Cipher.
And not to stir the pot, but there was drama over the recasting of the protagonists’ voice actors because of the SAG-AFTRA strike. They were standing up in solidarity and all, but now there’s some ambiguity about other characters. Dan Heng and Himeko might be in limbo. Who knows what’s next? Anyway, wild ride, right?
