Man, okay, where do I even start? So, Inno3D just dropped this bomb. Something about their GeForce RTX 5090 and RTX 5080 — now with some fancy water-cooled thingamajigs. I know, I know, tech jargon. But hang with me.
Right, so these things are called iChill Frostbite Pro. Trust me, they sound cooler than they look. Or maybe not. Anyway, these new versions shrink down to a single-slot. That’s big news for all you hardcore custom-loop folks. You know, those guys who love tinkering with liquid cooling like it’s some kind of art form. Honestly, I don’t even know how they have the patience.
So, what’s different? The waterblock, apparently. It’s not made from acrylic anymore. Now it’s some non-acrylic stuff from Alphacool. Why does this matter? No clue, but I guess it means you can cram in four GPUs. Lucky for the few who need that kind of power, right?
Then there’s this carbon fiber texture on the front. Fancy, huh? And for some odd reason, they’ve moved the connectors to the back. Anyone else find that weird? But hey, they kept the custom PCB with four display outputs. Guess that’s handy or whatever. Oh, and these babies have a custom backplate. Keeps the backside chill, I suppose.
Caught up with Inno3D folks — and spoiler alert — these cards are going head-to-head with the regular Frostbite series. But with a twist: faster clock speeds and higher prices. Typical, right?
Now, if we’re reminiscing about good ol’ Alphacool, they showed off some coolers too. Names like Apex, Core, and ES? Sounds like a band lineup, doesn’t it? Turns out, they use the same cooler the iChill Frostbite Pro models do. Small world, really.
So, fingers crossed we actually get a release date. Inno3D’s still ironing out the deets. No word on MSRP yet either. Hang tight, though. As soon as they spill the beans, you’ll hear from me. Promise.
