Oh boy, here we go. So it’s, uh, Wednesday, I think… and PlayStation’s got this shiny new studio they want us to fawn over. No pressure, right? They’re called teamLFG, and they promise they won’t bite. Unless you’re an exec, then maybe run for cover. They’re diving into this multiplayer thing — oh, and apparently, their muse is "frog-type games." Whatever that’s supposed to mean.
Anyway, there’s this blog post, full of the usual PS fanfare. Hermen Hulst — picture a proud dad at a science fair — is behind it, showing off his new favorite kids. It’s all about live service games, which sounds as fun as a midnight swim with sharks.
So, teamLFG… It stands for "Looking For Group," not the other LFG you might be thinking. I snorted at that. Bellevue, Washington — that’s their base. Imagine a bizarre mix of rookies and old hands from Destiny, Halo, you name it. And yes, it spun out of Bungie. I assume they’re keeping the caffeine people pretty busy.
Their words, not mine — they’re crazy about action-filled games, quick game movements, and all these social worlds. And, they claim their aim is creating games where folks find friendship and belonging. Cute, huh? PlayStation’s all in on these live-service games, bullishly, I might add. Their first go at it is something from Bungie’s layoff news. Yep, that’s a delightful connection right there.
So, first game? It’s this action deal that pulls from fighting games, platformers, MOBAs, those sims where you sort of live a life… and, of course, the mysterious "frog-type" games. Are we talking actual frogs or… not-frogs? Who knows? Just think mythic, comedy, sci-fi universe. Sounds like a party I’d crash.
Now let’s dig this frog business. Not your classic froggy adventures like Frogger, but frog type? I’m curious. Maybe a mash-up of Tekken, Mario, Dota 2… heaven help us if Crazy Frog’s involved, but hey, never say never. These guys are definitely keen on getting players to test things out early, which is both brave and bonkers.
So, could this be PlayStation’s golden ticket? A Crazy Frog Overwatch/Fortnite hybrid (gasp!) — is this what’s missing from our lives? No clue. But we’ll see what teamLFG stirs up. Got thoughts? Share below, or keep them bouncing in your head like I do.
