Meta and Microsoft dropped a surprise today—Quest 3S Xbox Edition. It’s kind of like this mad mash-up for XR and Xbox cloud gaming fans. What the heck does that even mean? Well, don’t get too excited if you’re waiting for some Xbox VR thing. Not happening. This is more like the Quest 3S got a makeover—think Xbox’s Carbon Black and Velocity Green. And, yeah, maybe a little more.
So, $399.99 gets you the usual 128GB Quest 3S and adds a bunch of extras. Matching Touch Plus controllers, a spot-on limited edition Xbox controller, and an Elite Strap (though, sadly, not the one with the extended battery). Oh, and don’t forget the sweet three-month Xbox Game Pass Ultimate.
Is it worth it? Depends. Buying this whole bundle separately would set you back about $490. Like, Quest 3S with controllers ($299), then you’ve got the Quest Elite Strap ($69), a regular Xbox controller ($64), and that Xbox Game Pass for three months ($60). You do the math.
But hey, if you’re already hooked up with an Xbox controller and Xbox Game Pass, maybe skip the fancy edition. You can already play the Xbox cloud games on Quest 2 and up, since Meta and Microsoft rolled that out back in 2023. Over 400 games. Wild, right?
This bundle also throws in a three-month ride on Meta’s Horizon+ game service. That’s usually $8 a month, letting you snag 30+ Quest games. Stuff like Asgard’s Wrath 2 and Demeo. Hold onto ’em as a subscriber.
Curious but not convinced? Check out our Quest 3S review for all those nerdy details. Specs, impressions, you know the drill.
This Quest 3S Xbox Edition first came up last April at Connect 2024. Meta’s also teasing some other cool XR headsets from ASUS Republic of Gamers and Lenovo. We’re waiting on more deets, but Asus is all about performance. Lenovo? They’re into productivity, fun times, and learning.
If you’re itching for this edition, head to meta.com, Best Buy in the US, or Argos and EE if you’re in the UK. But act fast—stocks are tiny, and once they’re gone, poof, that’s it.
