Wow, so here we are. Bigscreen’s hit the go button on shipping their shiny new thing—the Beyond 2 headset—after what seemed like forever. Delays, right? Anyway, not to sound too much like a press release (because who really likes those?), but the word on the street—or their blog, whatever—is that these babies are finally getting out there. And sure, there’s a backlog from all those eager beavers putting in pre-orders, so it’s a bit of a wait.
If you’re ordering now, they’re saying you might get it by, I don’t know, September-ish. Maybe it’ll take longer; maybe it won’t. Who can tell with these things? They’ve got two versions up for grabs—Beyond 2 and Beyond 2e. Not really pocket change, with Beyond 2 priced at $1,019 and Beyond 2e going for $1,219. Guess the ‘e’ stands for “extra” or something, since it’s got eye-tracking.
Oh, and fun fact—during its March launch, Beyond 2 sold like hotcakes, blitzing past the original in a single day what the first one did in four months. Crazy, huh? Eleven days of sales, and they beat the first year of Beyond 1. Bet they were popping champagne at the HQ. Speaking of which, yeah, they’re amping up production, hiring folks left and right, even flying techies off to keep an eye on things overseas. Jet-setting engineers, nice!
And there’s more—because why stop when you’re ahead, right? If you dropped cash on those customized cushions before May 7th, they should be in your hands by mid-August. Fingers crossed. Halo Mounts? Well, those might take a bit—September, October-ish due to, you guessed it, delays.
Oh, and if anyone out there’s still waiting on a Beyond 1? Get this, you’re upgrading—for free—to Beyond 2. Nice gesture, Bigscreen. They say those should be out by the end of July.
And last but not least, because politics always sneaks in somehow, no price boosts from tariffs. Guess that’s something to smile about in a world of ever-creeping costs. So there it is. Beyond 2, making waves or just riding them. Only time will tell.
