Starting this week, if you’re an Xbox Insider—which sounds cooler than it probably is, right?—you’ll spot some nifty changes happening on your Home screen. I mean, they’re calling it an “update,” but basically, they’re trying to make everything more about you. Like a digital reflection of your gaming soul or something. Maybe.
So, what’s up, you ask? In your recently played games and apps list, there are these three new options. I’m all like, why wasn’t this a thing sooner?
First off, you can hide system apps. Because let’s face it, who wants unnecessary stuff cluttering their screen? I don’t. Keep it clean, keep it mean—just games and entertainment, thank you very much.
Next, the favorite game pins! You can slap up to three of your go-to games right at the front. Like pinning your best friends to a digital bulletin board, except they’re games. And not people. But, you get it, right?
And then for you minimalists out there—reduce tile count is coming soon. Oh, the joy of fewer tiles. It sounds like a grand minimalist dream, doesn’t it? Just the essentials, and nothing more, stripping away the digital fluff to find the zen of gaming. Or maybe I’m just romanticizing it—who knows?
Oh, and these features are available to the Alpha Skip-Ahead and Alpha folks first—the VIPs of gaming updates. So, lucky them! And they want your feedback to make it even better, so speak now or forever hold your peace. Or just leave a comment. That works too.
Why does this matter in the grand cosmic scheme of things? Well, Xbox wants your Home to feel like… well, your home. A place where your favorite games are front and center and the stuff you don’t use is, well, invisible. A digital declutter if there ever was one.
And speaking of feedback, they’re all ears on their subreddit or wherever else you feel like dropping a comment. Go wild, Xbox Insiders!
Oh, and before I forget, if you’re not already one of these so-called insiders analyzing updates and offering your two cents, you might want to jump on the bandwagon. Download the Xbox Insider Hub and start shaping the Xbox future—or at least be the first to know what’s coming.
