Alright, so I gotta admit, I’m kinda hoping they’re pushing to release this before the Switch 2 drops. But, honestly? I’ve got a gnawing feeling that’s not gonna happen.
Last time we had a download frenzy right before a console drop was February 23, 2017. Back then, six games were the big deal across North America, and Europe played along with four. But now, prepping for the Switch 2 next week? North America cranks it up sixfold! And Europe? Almost ten times the madness. Japan’s got an avalanche in the 40s, but region locks kept me out. So, yeah, fun times.
The last bits before the big launch next week? We’ve got Fuga: Melodies of Steel 3 from CyberConnect2. Previous versions threw in this “story” button thing to, you know, keep the cannon drama kid-safe. Might be interesting to see what they’ve done with it this time. Oh, and then there’s Playtonic (Friends) doing some chill vibes with a cozy game set in Cattle Country, and a couple of “Saturn Tribute” style bits like Steam-Hearts for some shootin’ action and Advanced V.G. for brawlers.
Oh, right, almost forgot—stuff we skipped last week: Wilmot’s Warehouse sequel, called Wilmot Works It Out, and some card game solitaire thing from the Archives bashed out by Success.
North America
– Fuga: Melodies of Steel 3 (US$39.99/C$53.19)
– Cattle Country ($24.99/$34.99: Tuesday)
– Shikhondo: Youkai Rampage ($24.99/$36.08)
– Staffer Case: A Supernatural Mystery Adventure ($24.99/$32.50)
– Steam-Heart’s Saturn Tribute ($19.99/$28.60: Wednesday)
– Pipistrello and the Cursed Yo-Yo ($19.99/$25.99: Wednesday)
– Submersed 2 – The Hive ($19.99/$27.64)
– Nice Day For Fishing ($19.99/$25.99)
– Welcome to Empreyum ($16.99/$23.64)
– Advanced V.G. Saturn Tribute ($14.99/$21.44: Wednesday)
Other random stuff: The JerryMaya Detective Agency, pinball with Pinball Spire, and a who’s who of anime-themed escapades like Pirate Anime Quest: One Boy’s Journey. It’s a smorgasbord, really.
Weird note, my attention jumped on Werewolf Hunter – Survive The Howl (Tuesday). Maybe it’s the werewolf thing? That howl? Classic stuff. Or I’m just easily amused, who knows.
Europe
– Fuga: Melodies of Steel 3 (€39.99/£35.99)
– Cattle Country (€24.99/£19.99: Tuesday)
– Shikhondo: Youkai Rampage (€24.99/£22.49)
– Staffer Case (€24.50/£20.99)
– Pipistrello and the Cursed Yo-Yo (€19.99/£17.99: Wednesday)
The rush is real! Also, something about Retro Drive: Revamped on Friday sticks out. Maybe it’s just nostalgia kicking in? Or my inner speed demon. Either way, I’m intrigued.
Japan
– BYAKKO: Shijin Butai Enrenki (¥8580)
– Sono Hi no Kemono ni wa (¥7810)
– Sonic Wings Reunion (¥6380)
And look, there’s Fuga here too, for ¥4180. The pricing game in Japan sometimes feels like trying to figure out a Sudoku puzzle with no solution, doesn’t it?
So many titles, names I can’t pronounce, price points that make my head spin. But isn’t that what makes it fun? At least until the Switch 2 hits. Then it’s a whole new playing field.
Oh, and heads up: Risk of Rain 2 is on sale—seriously, 75% off until June 8. I swear, sometimes these sales feel like finding an Easter egg, tucked away in a corner.
There it is, my chaotic dive into the world of digital downloads. If any of this stuck, good. If not, well, the Switch 2 comes soon enough. Right?
