Alright, so Respawn just threw another update at Apex Legends—yeah, I know, it feels like there’s always something new happening. Anyway, this time they’re tweaking a couple guns, the Devotion and the EVA-8. I mean, seriously, does anyone actually get how these changes work? They’re always fiddling with the meta, as if it’s some delicate ecosystem or something.
Even though Apex Legends isn’t the hot new game on the block anymore, there are still loads of people playing. Like, we’re talking over 100,000 folks on Steam every day. That’s more than I’d expect for a game that isn’t top-tier popular these days. I guess that fast-paced, jump-around-like-crazy, battle royal thing still gets people hyped. And Respawn? They keep throwing in these changes so players don’t just poof, vanish to some other game.
Right, so, let’s get back to these updates. They’ve nerfed the Devotion—bye-bye big magazine size, it’s going from 52 to 48. Imagine that, you’ll have to reload more often now. Maybe it’s a good thing. Keeps you on your toes, or maybe just makes you want to throw your controller. Meanwhile, the EVA-8 got a little love. Damage per pellet is up, but they dialed the fire rate down. Sort of a give and take, you know? And those purple and gold bolts? Now they’re supposed to match the other shotguns. How does that even work—you tell me.
Okay, where was I… Oh yeah, Arenas: Duels. It’s this Limited-Time Mode thing and now it’s gonna feel quicker, or at least that’s the idea. Less standing around highlighted during countdowns. Seriously, who likes being a sitting duck?
I have mixed feelings about these changes. Some players are cheering about the Devotion getting nerfed, but others? They’re grumbling, thinking it still needs more work. I guess that’s a throwback to Season 25 when Respawn decided the Devotion was too slow and clunky. Maybe they just can’t make up their minds. But hey, whatever tweaks they’ve made—hopefully—it makes the gaming experience better.
Guess we’ll just have to wait and see how it all shakes out. Meanwhile, keep your eyes peeled for more updates ’cause if there’s one thing I’ve learned about Apex, it’s that nothing stays the same for long.
