Okay, so there’s this game coming out called Drag x Drive. Weird name, right? Anyway, it’s for the Switch 2—a console I didn’t even know was a thing until, like, yesterday. But seriously, imagine basketball with wheelchairs, and you use the mouse to play! Kinda nuts. Nintendo just dropped a trailer for it showing how everything works, which is cool, I guess?
Alright, so the trailer’s out, and we see about 7 minutes of stuff. They talk controls, tricks, and some behind-the-scenes action. Oh, and it’s called Drag “and” Drive—not “x.” I swear I wasn’t paying attention at first. Don’t judge.
On this podcast I stumbled on (Pure Nintendo, if that rings a bell), folks were wondering what kind of game modes they’d throw in besides the usual 3-on-3 gigs. Surprise! Mini-games between matches. Could be fun? Sure, let’s roll with that. You get online plays, training modes, bot matches. The works.
Let me run you through these features. You can join online lobbies—you know the drill. Get 6 people, boom, game starts! Up to 12 can join this place called Public Park. You wanna hang with friends? Boom again, Friend Parks. Private stuff, do whatever you like. There are two courts, so go wild. Challenge each other, climb that leaderboard, or don’t. Nobody’s judging.
Offline, it’s just you versus computer buddies. Pick your driver—Guard, Center, Forward—fancy names for play styles. Stats differ, so find your jam.
Switch it up with the Circuit Sprint minigame, shooting contests, stuff like Rebound Scramble. Jump rope—yeah, sports meets playground nostalgia or something. Complete these wacky challenges, unlock helmets, pimp your ride—I mean driver. Helmets, armor, tires, slap a number on it. Boom, personalized!
These features sound kind of rad to me, but, I dunno, what do you think? Is Drag x Drive going to be one of those surprise hits for Nintendo? Maybe. I’m curious about your thoughts on the trailer, though.
And, hey, if you can’t wait for the game’s release, there’s this Global Jam thing happening. Dates are a little wild: August 9 from 3 to 7 am PT, and then again from 5 to 9 pm PT. August 10, it’s on from 9 am to 1 pm. Perfect time to test drive—I mean, play basketball with friends before the whole shebang drops on August 14.
Let’s see if it hits a home run—or, wait, no—a slam dunk. My bad.
