So, okay, I stumbled upon this sale thing on the PlayStation Store, and I just had to talk about it. They’re doing this wild Next Level Savings promo whatever, but what caught my eye wasn’t the flashy titles. Nope, it was the indie games – those hidden gems with crazy discounts. We’re talking up to 75% off, which, yeah, is nuts. One game, in particular, caught my attention. Just hang with me for a sec.
### Outlast: Horror for a Steal
Right now, Outlast is, like, five bucks on the PS Store. Seriously, from twenty down to less than a fancy latte. But don’t sleep on it because the deal’s only good until May 29, right around 3 a.m. ET. Why they picked that time? No clue.
Here’s the scoop: In the spooky mountains of Colorado – a place I’ve never been but sounds chilling – there’s this asylum called Mount Massive. Now, it used to house the mentally ill (don’t get me started on why that’s always the creepy setting) and was reopened by some shady corp called Murkoff – super sus.
So, you’re this dude, Miles Upshur, a journalist with more guts than sense. He sneaks in after a tip-off – an anonymous one, of course (aren’t they always?) – and then things just get freaky. It’s like science meets religion meets… something weird. All you’ve got? The truth that’s oh-so-dark.
Now, if Outlast hooks you – and it might, if you’re into being terrified for fun – there’s also this DLC, Whistleblower. It’s the backstory and the finale all tangled up. Not on sale though, at $8.99, but hey, for under 14 bucks you get the whole chilling saga.
By the way, back when it dropped in 2013, Outlast was a hit. Critics averaged it out to 80 on Metacritic. Not that scores usually sway me, but hey, someone out there with more refined tastes said it was good.
Anyway, I guess if you’re into creepy mountain asylums and low-key adrenaline spikes, it’s worth a look. Just don’t blame me if you end up sleeping with the lights on.
